Good news for PC-BSD Lovers, there are new development release for PC-BSD 9.0-BETA1. If you don't know what is PC-BSD here are a little brief : PC-BSD is an Operating System, available for free like Linux OS, PC-BSD has as its goals to be an easy-to-install-and-use desktop operating system, based on FreeBSD. To accomplish this, it provides a graphical installation to enable even UNIX novices to easily install and get it running. It pre-configures KDE, video, sound, and networking so that the desktop can be used immediately. A graphical software installation program makes installing pre-built software, known as Push Button Installers (PBI), as easy as other popular operating systems.
Dru Lavigne has announced the availability of the first beta release of PC-BSD 9.0, a desktop-oriented operating system based on FreeBSD: "The PC-BSD team is pleased to announce the availability of the first beta release in the new 9.x series. Major changes: now supports multiple window managers, such as: KDE 4, GNOME 2, Xfce 4, LXDE; support for 'meta-pkgs', allowing the user to customize their installed system with a variety of software; improved PBI system, allows sharing of files / libraries between applications for reduced disk and runtime space; new AppCafe, allow easy browsing, installing and managing applications; updates to the installer, allowing easy setup of ZFS, GELI encryption and more...."
